This is a skin condition where patches of de-pigmentation take place. In other words, the skin loses its colour and the part of the body affected looks like white patches have developed. This is not infectious, but it is a long-term condition. The reason for this is that the pigment cells in the skin get destroyed. The reason why they get destroyed is not known.
