Sores develop along the inner lining of the stomach or the duodenum (small intestine). When the sore develops in the stomach, it is called a Gastric Ulcer; when it grows in the duodenum, it is called a Peptic Ulcer. These ulcers are caused mainly due to irregular food habits, especially keeping the stomach empty for long intervals between meals. Another cause is excessive mental strain and anxiety. The stomach seems to secrete more acid when the person is anxious, and the excessive acid creates these ulcers.
