The common symptoms of this disease are premature ageing and a serious problem with the person’s short-term memory. Mid-stage symptoms are confusion and irritability, giving rise to mood swings and aggression. There is a deterioration in the person’s language and there can be breakdowns in the person’s ability to formulate one’s thoughts. The late-stage symptoms are long-term memory loss and the failing of the person’s senses, leading to a general personality withdrawal, ultimately resulting in a loss of bodily functions and then, death.
