Bed sores occur in people who are unable to move for prolonged periods of time. The person’s weight puts constant pressure on the skin against the bed or wheelchair. The condition starts off with a reddening of the skin, then moves on to the formation of open sores or blisters that give the skin a boil-infested appearance. Coma patients, paralysed people, and people confined to their beds or wheelchairs are most prone to these.
